My Tiny Sketchbook

Reading books in public transportation makes me extremely nauseous, but drawing doesn't. To kill time I usually draw in my tiny sketchbook.

Best ideas come up when you aren't thinking too much. Doodles are quite helpful:)

A Part of Me

Oct 2011

Tell Me

Everyone had different interpretations for this drawing. My friend told me that the woman looks as if she is letting herself go. She appears to have inner peace though she is about to fall on the ground.

I drew this illustration with a certain woman in my mind. She acts confident and strong but in fact she has the lowest self-esteem you can ever imagine. She needs men to constantly tell her that she is beautiful and desirable. She lays bare without shame or embarrassment. She believes that men idolises her for her "beauty", but in fact men only want her for physical pleasures. She offers her body for all the world to see.

She embraces herself in pleasure, believing that "beauty" is determined by one's outward appearance.

Mind Control Me

What I think of what the government is doing to innocent citizens...

...but the title is "Mind Control ME" because I believe that some people just let themselves be brainwashed when the truth is in fact evident and unhidden. It was never invisible in the first place.

Ignorance is the worst disease you can ever have. It infects your brain and makes you unable to think or question.

Will update more soon!

I had a small break only when Stephen was in Korea with me. My summer schedule had been hectic, so I didn't have any time for myself... BUT NOWWW, I finally have a little bit of time available since 2 weeks ago, so I've been drawing like the world's going to end any minute.

I will update my blog with more illustrations soon!

"SHOP": group project

Intense cookie-decorating concentration!!!
At Maelle's room, Photograph taken by Abby.

I've been working on a group project of setting up a shop together with my classmates from university. We made a blog just for this project. I'm updating the "Shop" blog slowly but surely. I make sure to document and keep record of our progress. We are still in the beginning stage so I hope we will create a solid final piece/product soon.

The Monster

This was a monster that often came out in my nightmares when I was a child. Memories!

Stitched tracing paper on top of white felt fabric.
This work is pretty old... I think it's from 2-3 years ago.
I just wanted to put it up as a reminder to myself that I should illustrate more on fabric. I love to stitch...

Lido Puzzle (Completed)

The 3D Design students decided to make it look simple yet attractive by limiting the colors.
Here are more images of the completed Lido Puzzle!

I must say, it was so fun working with students outside of my course. I hope to work together with the 3D Product Design students soon!!! They are really hard-working people=) I'm so glad that they've commissioned me to illustrate on their products.

Lido Puzzle (In Process)

I was commissioned by 3D Product Design Students (Their client: Brockwell Lido) to put my illustrations on their product called Lido Puzzle.

These are the drawings I came up with, that represented Brockwell Lido.

The design students picked two images (the woman diving and the building with the close up image of the clock), and then projected them onto the puzzle boxes (front&back). They traced the projected images with pencil first and then they painted over with acrylic later on. There were ONLY THREE PEOPLE in the group, but they worked really hard to complete this project (I helped to paint as well).

Still in process... I will upload more photos once we finish painting!!!!!
